About Organic Coffee Tables

Most of these organic modern coffee tables soften the outline somewhere, with pebble, oval and racetrack tops, waved edges, or a round sintered stone pedestal.

Shape, size and height

Nine of the ten are 47¼ inches wide, which the two-thirds rule pairs with a sofa of about 72 inches; leave 16 to 18 inches between the table and the seat. Heights run from 13¾ to 15¾ inches, and the 15¾-inch Mansfield, Finley, Harrison and Pembroke sit closest to a standard seat. Curved outlines such as the Pembroke's walnut pebble top leave no corner at knee height in a busy room.

For a sectional or a smaller room, a round table can be reached from more than one seat. The Holbrook Round Coffee Table is 35⅜ inches across in sintered stone on a faceted pedestal.

Wood tops, including the walnut on the Finley, Harrison and Pembroke, show rings and fine scratches over time, so use coasters and wipe spills promptly; the sintered stone tops on the Holbrook and Talbot resist heat and stains.
