What defines the modern look here
The forms are few and plain: the square block, the cylinder, the arc. Several of the 10 coffee tables are black or dark lacquered wood with the grain reading through. The Hadley Coffee Table sets a white, dark-veined sintered stone block against dark brown solid wood, 55⅛ by 31½ inches, with drawers on both long sides.
The 31 lamps follow the same rules. Most of the 17 floor lamps are arcs, a single bent stem from a weighted base that puts the shade over a sofa while the foot stands clear; the Avery Marble Floor Lamp is 78¾ inches high, spans 43¼ inches and is counterweighted by a marble cylinder. Eleven of the 14 table lamps stand on marble, several under glass diffusers that glow evenly rather than throwing a hard beam.
